SOLAR ENERGY APPLICATIONS

TRUST THE GUND COMPANY WITH MATERIAL SOLUTIONS TO SUPPORT SOLAR ENERGY DEVELOPMENT AND MANUFACTURING

Converting DC power generated from solar cells and transferring to energy storage systems or the grid requires a variety of electrical equipment; such as inverters, combiner boxes, and battery systems. Engineered plastics and composites materials from The Gund Company can be used as electrical and thermal insulation in these applications ranging from residential to commercial systems.

APPLICATION EXPERTISE

COMBINER BOXES

Each solar panel will generate its own DC current output. A combiner box consolidates the DC outputs into one so it can later be stored or inverted with ease.

RESIDENTIAL INVERTERS

Residential Inverters transform DC current generated by photovoltaic cells and convert them into useable AC current in the home.

COMMERCIAL & OFF-GRID INVERTERS

Inverters in large scale microgrids or commercial solar system convert the DC current generated by photovoltaic and convert them to AC current.

ENERGY STORAGE SYSTEMS

Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) store the power generated by photovoltaic cells for use at a later time.

PolyPro FR logo

PolyPro FR® II is a flame-retardant polypropylene that, essentially, carries a UL 94 V-0 flame class rating. Not to mention, this material has features and quality characteristics that make it a substantial economical choice for electrical insulation applications. The material offers a range of standard thicknesses, which are available from 0.010” to 0.125”. The PolyPro FR® II material is known to be cost-effective and can also be fabricated into a wide range of designs using cost-effective fabrication methods, such as die-cutting or knife-cutting. Not only that, but the material also exhibits excellent formability characteristics. As a result, it can be scored, shipped flat and quickly folded into many three-dimensional shapes.

PolyPro FR® II provides a lower cost alternative for designs incorporating the use of materials such as aramid papers or polycarbonate films.

PolyPro FR® can be customer fabricated for a wide range of application designs. It’s ability to be scored and formed allows it to be made into insulating boxes for various applications in electrical and electronic equipment. Manufactured by The Gund Comapny, PolyPro®  is a flame retardant Polypropylene extruded for electrical insulation applications in electrical and electronic power systems equipment.
