POWER ELECTRONICS

THE GUND COMPANY MANUFACTURES AND FABRICATES A BROAD RANGE OF MATERIALS THAT CAN PROPERLY INSULATE THE MOST DEMANDING POWER ELECTRONICS APPLICATIONS.

  • Composite Materials
  • Thermoplastic Materials
  • Composite Electrostatic Dissipative (ESD) Materials

MATERIALS FOR POWER ELECTRONICS

In general, composite materials are able to serve as heat shields, dielectric barriers, air baffles and electrical insulation within transformers.

Many of the flexible thermoplastic materials can typically serve as board liners, battery insulation and capacitor shields.

When it comes to composite electrostatic dissipative (ESD) materials, though, they are able to help combat the destructive nature of corona discharge in electronic manufacturing environments. The ESD materials can, essentially, minimize the accumulation of static energy. Not only that, but they can also neutralize the electrostatic energy through a process that is known as grounding.

PolyPro FR logo

PolyPro FR® II is a flame-retardant polypropylene that, essentially, carries a UL 94 V-0 flame class rating. Not to mention, this material has features and quality characteristics that make it a substantial economical choice for electrical insulation applications. The material offers a range of standard thicknesses, which are available from 0.010” to 0.125”. The PolyPro FR® II material is known to be cost-effective and can also be fabricated into a wide range of designs using cost-effective fabrication methods, such as die-cutting or knife-cutting. Not only that, but the material also exhibits excellent formability characteristics. As a result, it can be scored, shipped flat and quickly folded into many three-dimensional shapes.

PolyPro FR® II provides a lower cost alternative for designs incorporating the use of materials such as aramid papers or polycarbonate films.
